Chile’s Quintero LNG terminal has received its first cargo from Cheniere’s Sabine Pass LNG export terminal in US. This is the first U.S. LNG cargo produced from shale gas to reach Chile. AMPO POYAM VALVES’ highly engineered valves have been installed in both terminals.
Sabine Pass Liquefaction project added liquefaction services at the Sabine Pass LNG terminal in Cameron Parish, Louisiana. The Liquefaction Project transformed the Sabine Pass terminal into the world’s first bi-directional facility capable of exporting natural gas in addition to regasifying imported LNG. It was designed for up to four modular LNG trains, each with an average liquefaction capacity of approximately 4.5 mtpa.
On the other hand, GNL Quintero is the first land-based Terminal for the reception, unloading, storage and regasification of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) in the southern hemisphere. Since operations commenced in 2009, they have supplied the demand for natural gas in central Chile. Three onshore tanks, with a total storage capacity of 334,000 m3, guarantee continuity of supply.
AMPO POYAM VALVES, world leader in highly engineered valves with an outstanding performance and low maintenance costs, supplied more than 7000 valves to SABINE PASS LNG project and more than 1500 valves for QUINTERO LNG terminal.
For SABINE PASS LNG project AMPO supplied ball, globe and check valves in Austenitic Stainless Steel and also in WCB, with sizes varying from ½” to 54”. For this project they also produced the biggest cryogenic ball valve ever manufactured: a 54” ball valve. Moreover, it also supplied 36” and 42” cryogenic HIPPS service valves with perfect sealing in less than two seconds, as well as non-cryogenic and metal seated ball valves.
On the other hand, for QUINTERO LNG terminal AMPO supplied in 2007 and 2008 more than 1500 ball, gate, globe and check valves, which were installed in the regasification trains. For this project AMPO also produced high pressure service cryogenic valves and worked hand in hand with CB&I, as well as the end user, in order to supply the best technological solutions. For example, due to seismic risks, important calculations and analyses were developed by our engineering teams.
In both projects AMPO also provided on-site after sales services, supporting the construction, commissioning and start-up of the terminals, working together with EPC’s engineering teams in order to ensure successful start-ups of the projects. Moreover, we continue supplying after-sales services at QUINTERO LNG terminal and we have just closely cooperated with Cheniere, the end user of SABINE PASS LNG terminal, giving a training session to their personnel to ensure the plant may remain as self-sufficient as possible.
AMPO POYAM VALVES, whose valves are installed in more than the 80% of the worldwide terminals, designs and manufactures valves for the complete gas and oil chains; from gas treatment facilities to offshore, onshore and marine projects.
