AMPO POYAM VALVES IS MANUFACTURING CRYOGENIC TRIPLE ECCENTRIC BUTTERFLY VALVES FOR ZEEBRUGGE LNG TERMINAL EXPANSION
Belgian natural gas operator FLUXYS LNG and the EPC FELGUERA IHI have trusted again in AMPO POYAM VALVES for the design and manufacture of 1255 butterfly, ball, gate, globe and check valves. These highly engineered valves will be installed in the fifth LNG storage tank of the Belgian plant ZEEBRUGGE LNG, which will be one of the largest in the world with a capacity of 180,000 cubic meters.
ZEEBRUGGE LNG has been consolidated over the last years as an important gas distribution platform in the market, and it currently supplies 15% of the Western European market. This plant is owned by FLUXYS LNG, who also operates the LNG terminal.
AMPO POYAM VALVES has been awarded a new order for 57 cryogenic butterfly valves, as well as 1198 ball, gate, globe and check valves.
Ball and butterfly valves are both quarter turn valves. They are mainly used in plants for on/off operations. AMPO has traditionally offered ball valves for this purpose, but in order to cover low-mid pressure (till Class 900 lbs) and big size valve applications also with butterfly valves required by our customers, an innovative butterfly design has been created to solve the main disadvantages known in butterfly valves in order to ensure maximum reliability. As a result, AMPO POYAM VALVES currently offers the most innovative and reliable triple eccentric butterfly valve on the market for cryogenic service.
It has been our deep knowledge on customer’s requirements as well as the positive results obtained in previous projects, which have made the customer entrust the award of this contract to AMPO POYAM VALVES. Moreover it should be noted that AMPO has a more than 50 years old experience in fulfilling different customer needs and offering highly reliable valves.
In addition, we will also provide after-sales services in the LNG terminal, supporting the construction and commissioning of the new tank with AMPO SERVICE field engineers. Our participation will be essential just because customer requires the disassemble of valves before their installation at the line for their later assembly by our technicians. Our field engineers will be involved in the commissioning of the plant in order to avoid problems related to valves and to ensure good valve performance and proper operation.
