AMPO POYAM VALVES DESPATCHES MORE THAN 2,100 SLURRY ANGLE VALVES FOR NALCO’S ALUMINA REFINERY IN INDIA

AMPO POYAM VALVES despatches more than 2,100 slurry angle severe service valves for National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), which is one of the largest integrated bauxite, alumina, aluminium and power complexes in India. The company is planning to set up the 5th Stream in its Alumina Refinery at Damanjodi, Dist Koraput, Odisha, as a part of the expansion programme (3rd phase expansion). The capacity of this stream will be 1.0 MTPA (million tonne per annum) and consequently, the total capacity of the plant will increase from 2.275 MTPA to 3.275 MTPA. The processing technology will be based on Medium Pressure Digestion, for which Rio-Tinto-Alcan’s Medium Pressure (MP) digestion process license has been considered for alumina refining.

Thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions was awarded the PMC (Project Management Consultancy) contract for this new stream and together with the end user, NALCO, it has relied in AMPO POYAM VALVES for the design and manufacture of more than 2,100 manual and pneumatic operated slurry angle- bayonet, three way, straight through and lift check valves.

AMPO POYAM VALVES’s wide experience in the market, together with its expertise and know-how has allowed to develop an optimal solution in terms of materials, design and valve performance and isolation, considering the heavy slurry service at the refinery.

All those valves have been manufactured in AMPO INDIA, which comprises an area of approximately 15,000 square meters in Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu), India and which includes valve assembly, testing, painting and packing facilities. Here AMPO INDIA is able to manufacture up to 72” sized valves.

Moreover, AMPO POYAM VALVES will also provide on-site after sales services, supporting the construction, commissioning and start-up of this 5^th stream with a team of highly qualified and experienced field engineers of AMPO SERVICE and working together with the customer’s engineering team in order to ensure a successful start-up and maintenance of the refinery.
