AMPO POYAM VALVES SUPPLIES 200 CRYOGENIC VALVES TO E4EFFICIENCY FOR AN INNOVATIVE ENERGY EFFICIENCY PROJECT IN LNG REGASIFICATION PLANTS
AMPO POYAM VALVES has designed, produced, and delivered around 200 highly engineered cryogenic valves to E4Efficiency, a subsidiary of Enagas established to lead energy efficiency projects in the context of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) regasification plants. In recent years, Enagas—through E4Efficiency—together with Veolia and the Barcelona City Council, has been working on a groundbreaking project focused on residual cold recovery and its injection into Ecoenergies Barcelona, the largest urban cooling network in Southern Europe.
This pioneering project in innovation, decarbonization, and energy efficiency will have around 200 AMPO actuated and manual cryogenic valves. Through this novel technology developed by Enagas, the inherent cold of LNG (the energy of its cryogenic temperature) is utilized to enhance the efficiency of its Barcelona LNG terminal, generating 131 GWh per year of local, sustainable, low-carbon, and competitive energy. This innovation will prevent the emission of more than 32,000 tons of CO2 annually.
AMPO POYAM VALVES’ over 40 years of experience in the LNG industry and its long-standing collaboration with Enagas led the client to entrust AMPO with the supply of these highly engineered cryogenic valves for such an innovative project. The Idiazabal-based company has millions of cryogenic valve references installed worldwide and is considered a world leader in the design and manufacture of cryogenic valves.
Thanks to this innovative technology developed and patented by E4Efficiency, the immense low-temperature energy is effectively harnessed, fostering proximity between LNG plants and major cold-consuming industries, such as cold storage facilities, ice factories, air separation plants, solid CO2 industries, and more. This approach helps these industries become more competitive and sustainable.
