CONSTRUCTION BEGINS ON THE ENERGY INTELLIGENCE CENTER (EIC) FACILITIES IN THE BASQUE COUNTRY
On Monday, February 15, the first stone of the building that will host the Energy Intelligence Center facilities in the Basque Country was placed. The event was chaired by the President of the Basque Country, Iñigo Urkullu, but it was also hosted by the General Deputy of Biscay, Unai Rementeria, and representatives of leading companies such as AMPO, Petronor, Tubacex, Tubos Reunidos and Vicinay. Those companies will be the first users of this new facilities.
The EIC building has been designed as a flexible space to develop technological knowledge and Research and Development projects in the energy sector, in order to strengthen the capacities of the Basque Country for the energy transition, among which hydrogen-related projects will be considered. The total investment for the construction and set-up of the project amounts to 39.7 million euros and includes the building construction and the interior equipment and facilities, as well as specialized laboratories and workshops, whole of them dressed with machinery and technology.
The Energy Intelligence Center is an initiative designed to boost the competitiveness and international leadership of the basque companies in the energy sector, based on technological development and the creation of knowledge. As a result, AMPO will support with its knowledge and developments the positioning of the Basque Country as a world reference in the energy sector.
