ELECTRIC ACTUATED HIGHLY ENGINEERED GATE VALVES FOR THE CHEMICAL PROJECT GCGV IN THE US
AMPO POYAM VALVES will design and manufacture electric actuated gate valves for GULF COAST GROWTH VENTURES (GCGV), a joint venture between Exxon Mobil and Sabic. The project will consist on the construction of a chemical facility in San Patricio County, Texas, which will be constructed by four primary engineering, procurement and construction companies: The Wood Group, CMI & Turner Industries Group, Chiyoda & Kiewit and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries & Zachry Group. Construction will begin in the third quarter of 2019 and start-up is anticipated by 2022.
Most of the valves will be stainless steel and carbon steel, but there will be also some monel valves for Oxygen Service. Consequently, these valves will be manufactured without any ignition hazards. The valves’ sizes will range up to 30” and the pressure range will vary from 150 lbs to 1500 lbs.
In this chemical plant, ethylene from an ethane cracker would feed three derivative units; one Mono Ethylene Glycol (MEG) unit and two polyethylene units. Monoethylene glycol can be used to make polyester for the manufacture of clothing and to make polyethylene terephthalate (PET), a plastic used for beverage bottles and containers. Polyethylene is another type of plastic that can be used in a range of applications, including packaging, consumer and industrial products, agricultural film and building and construction materials.
GCGV and the diverse EPCs have decided to work with AMPO POYAM VALVES due to its certified quality and its capability of manufacturing highly engineered valves for the petrochemical and chemical industry.
