HIGHLY ENGINEERED VALVES FOR THE INNOVATIVE CROSS-BORDER GREATER TORTUE AHMEYIM FLNG DEVELOPMENT IN AFRICA

AMPO POYAM VALVES has been awarded a contract to supply in 2020 more than 550 highly engineered cryogenic and non-cryogenic ball, globe and gate valves for the first phase of BP’s innovative cross-border Greater Tortue Ahmeyim FLNG development, the deepest offshore LNG project in the African continent. The project will consist of two near-shore FLNG vessels that will be located 8km offshore straddling the Mauritania – Senegal maritime border.

The valves contract has been recently awarded to AMPO POYAM VALVES by Saipem, who is in charge of the Engineering, Procurement and Construction of the LNG hub/terminal facilities. Saipem and BP have trusted in AMPO POYAM VALVES for the design and manufacture of more than 550 cryogenic and non cryogenic ball, globe and gate valves, whose pressure range will vary from 150 lbs to 1500 lbs. AMPO POYAM VALVES is since many years ago a world leader in LNG valves.

The Greater Tortue Ahmeyim project will produce gas from an ultra-deepwater subsea system and mid-water floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel, which will process the gas, removing heavier hydrocarbon components. The gas will then be transferred to a floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility at an innovative nearshore hub located on the Mauritania and Senegal maritime border. The FLNG facility is designed to provide around 2.5 million tonnes of LNG per annum on average, with the total gas resources in the field estimated to be around 15 trillion cubic feet. The project is planned to provide LNG for global export as well as making gas available for domestic use in both Mauritania and Senegal.
