After the expansion of the new machining and weld overlay technologies plant in 2019, AMPO implemented a new process layout based on the LEAN methodology in its facilities for the manufacturing of highly engineered valves in Idiazabal.
The most important change in the layout consisted in joining valve assembly lines with testing areas, for which seven new test benches were acquired, with the capacity to perform even high pressure tests. In addition to this, the company also divided inspection and production activities and acquired a new logistics warehouse.
On the other hand, it should be noted that due to AMPO’s specialization in the development and manufacture of highly engineered valves, it also made significant investments in a clean room for oxygen service valve assembly as well as in a cutting edge PR2 test bench for upstream valves. This PR2 test bench exposes valves to extreme conditions of high and low temperatures while performing cycles at different pressure levels, guaranteeing the integrity of its solutions and components.
